Even if you don't pick one of the recommendations in this article, please don't use a closed-source web browser. Google Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc. are all just phoning home with every URL you visit and likely much worse.
LibreWolf
Just use LibreWolf. It's Firefox with all the bloat removed and uBlock Origin pre-installed.
Clears history and cookies when you close it by default (but you can make exceptions for sites that you actually want to remember you)
Ungoogled Chromium
If you really want the same engine as Chrome/Chromium but without all the spyware, this is a good option.
https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium
Bromite (Android)
Phones are cringe and you're fighting a losing battle if you're trying to avoid surveillance while carrying one everywhere. That said, this is basically the equivalent of Ungoogled Chromium for Android.
https://github.com/bromite/bromite
Firefox
Not really a serious recommendation, just the lead bad mainstream option (but still really bad). For the normies who are really scared of logos they don't recognise.
But please just try LibreWolf - it's exactly the same thing, but with all the bad parts removed. There are no additional features. No AI chat bots shoved in or having to change all the settings back to how you wanted them when the interface completely changes every week. And no CEO that earns $7m/year as their product's market share collapses.
